This handsome-lookin' room in Makespace Central, near Oxford train station, is available now and could be yours ✨ We provide spaces for anyone with positive cultural, social or environmental impact at their core, including non-profits, community groups, artists, and makers. 🎨 🌱

The room is a little over 10 square metres - big enough to use as office space, studio, or workshop. The building has a shared bathroom and kitchenette and wifi is included in the price.

🍊 We can't wait for Marmalade Festival next month! Ahead of our panel discussion, we wanted to introduce you to each of the speakers, kicking things off with Juliet Can, the co-founder and director of Stour Trust CLT.

Juliet is founder director of Stour Trust and co-founder of Hackney Wick and Fish Island Development Trust. Stour Trust is a social enterprise innovating new models of community-led regeneration.

The organisation seeks to democratise access to land and buildings through acquiring and stewarding assets to be delivered as affordable housing, cultural, community and work spaces. It influences policies to deliver racial, social and economic justice for under-represented communities. She sits on the Board of London Community Land Trust and Ethical Property Company.

🌟 New exhibition! 🌟 We're currently displaying the amazing work of Makespace resident @annalockwoodart at The Charter Studios in Abingdon.

Anna uses minimalist backgrounds to focus on avian subjects, turning them into reflections on societal norms and human behaviour. Inspired by their quiet omnipresence, she often depicts species that are dismissed or overlooked, celebrating their resilience and drawing parallels to human struggles.

Themes of loneliness, unexpected connections, and resilience are woven throughout her work. Recently, Anna has been delving into the theme of biophilia – the deep, inherent connection humans have with the natural world. In her paintings, humans now appear alongside birds, creating a harmonious symbiosis.
