We were excited to announce earlier this year that Makespace Oxford have teamed up with local councils and other partners to launch a new £1.7m programme, Meanwhile in Oxfordshire to breathe life back into boarded up high streets, transforming empty buildings into vibrant places for artists, makers, independent retailers and purpose-driven organisations.

With the launch of this new programme, we are expanding our team, offering an opportunity to join a young and dynamic organisation at an exciting time of growth.

We are recruiting for a number of varied new roles, which will offer a chance to contribute to creating a significant impact over the next year, changing the conversation around empty buildings and centring community-led economic development.

We are recruiting for the following roles:

Strategic Director

(£36,000 – £40,000 p.a. FTE) – Up to 5 days p/week

An exciting opportunity to steer a young and dynamic organisation through a period of growth, with responsibility for financial oversight, operational and business planning and fundraising strategy, as well as building and supporting the team.

Programme Lead

(£32,000 – £36,000 p.a. FTE) – 2 – 5 days p/week

Leading on the programme management of an unique new £1.7m grant-funded partnership programme ‘Meanwhile in Oxfordshire’, this role will coordinate relationships with our funders and partners, directing the strategic focus of the programme, whilst ensuring the contract KPIs are delivered on time and budget.

Communities Delivery Manager

(£29,000 – £32,000 p.a. FTE) – 5 days p/week

Supporting the delivery of the Meanwhile in Oxfordshire programme, the delivery manager will build links and partnerships across the county where Makespace unlocks new premises, recruit occupiers for new spaces and provide business and community development support.

Communications & Marketing Manager

(£29,000 – £32,000 p.a. FTE) – 3 days p/week

Developing and implementing an external communications and marketing strategy for the Meanwhile in Oxfordshire programme, the Communications & Marketing Manager will help us publicise our work, recruit potential partners and occupiers to the programme and support our aim of shifting the narrative around empty space across Oxfordshire.

Communities Coordinator

(£27,000 – £29,000 p.a. FTE) – 3.5 – 5 days p/week

Responsible for occupier liaison and building community in our meanwhile workspaces, the Communities Coordinator will maintain relationships and communication with occupiers and organise community events and activities.

Facilities Coordinator  x2

(£27,000  – £29,000 p.a. FTE) – 5 days p/week

Responsible for managing and maintaining the buildings in our portfolio of meanwhile spaces across Oxfordshire, the Facilities Coordinators will also support the refurbishment and fit-out of new spaces.
