Since its launch in March 2023, this project has hosted nearly 80 workshops and welcomed over 1,600 participants! From training and mentoring local artists to creating stunning public artworks, it celebrates South Abingdon’s heritage while fostering creativity and building capacity for the future 🎨✨⁠

To see for yourself, uncover the new Arts & Nature Trail Map, designed by @tommclean_designer and @life__styling, that winds through parks, footpaths, and residential areas to showcase the public artwork developed by local artists as part of the project ✨⁠

This project is about building pride in place, fostering connections and empowering local voices to lead the way.⁠

We’re excited to keep this journey going with new residencies, workshops and collaborations in the year ahead.⁠

In October of this year, we reached a major milestone when Oxford City Council approved plans for the redevelopment of 38-40 George Street—marking the first step towards establishing our very own long-term civic space. This inclusive, accessible hub will serve as a vital community space for Oxford, providing a place where everyone can connect, create, and thrive.⁠

Oxford Open Doors is a major event in our calendar; a chance to explore the wondrous buildings on our doorstep. We believe in creating spaces that are accessible, inclusive, and open to all, so this year, we took the opportunity to ask:⁠

What if Oxford’s resources and spaces were open all year round?⁠
⁠
We hosted a two fringe events ahead of the official Open Doors weekend to explore this question, including a counter-mapping workshop with Oxford Spatial Action Lab, and a thought-provoking panel event with @CIVIC_SQUARE, @Transitionbyd, and @OxfordCommunityAction.⁠

💻 Day 8 of Impact: New Resident Portal Launch 💻⁠

This year we participated in the @DeloitteUK Digital Connect program. This initiative has helped us develop tools to bridge connections between our residents, and develop the new Makespace Resident Portal.⁠
⁠
With over 200 residents breathing life into our spaces over the past six years, it’s easy to lose track of all the incredible work happening within our hubs. The Resident Portal is a digital ecosystem designed to share knowledge between residents and showcase the purpose-driven individuals and enterprises that make our spaces thrive across Oxfordshire.⁠

Currently available exclusively to our residents, we can't wait to share this fantastic resource with the public in the new year. Watch this space!⁠
