Last but defo not least, Victoria Barrow Williams of People Dem Collective will be speaking as part of our Marmalade panel. Come join us on 2nd April between 3:30 and 5:30pm at Oxford Westgate Library.

Victoria Barrow Williams is the co-founder and director of People Dem Collective (PDC), an organisation dedicated to advancing systemic change by elevating the voices of Black, Brown, and Diaspora communities, addressing systemic racism, and reclaiming cultural spaces.

PDC is a dynamic social enterprise fostering community-led initiatives. The collective focuses on increasing access to cultural and creative opportunities, promoting community ownership, and supporting cultural education and expression. Their mission is to achieve racial, social, and economic justice for marginalised communities through strategic partnerships and impactful projects.

This speaker won't need much introduction to some of you. Andy Edwards is Executive Director and co-founder of Makespace Oxford CIC, a community business working to unlock empty and underused spaces for communities and purpose-driven organisations. It adopts the strategy of meanwhile as a catalyst to build towards spatial justice and systemic change.

Andy is also co-founder of Transition by Design, a co-operative architecture practice committed to low carbon and participatory design and has a background in housing activism, architecture, strategic and regenerative design.

He'll be talking on our Marmalade panel about his vision of a ecologically safe and socially just Oxfordshire and the work we're doing to help get there. It's not something we can do alone, though, and we recognise there are already some fantastic groups and organisations doing similar work in the county. We'd love to see our panel act as a chance to connect and potentially start some collaborations.

The next face we want to introduce you to as part of our Marmalade panel is Dr Jess Steele OBE, Founder, Director, and Commoner at Large at @hastingscommons.

Jess has 30 years experience of working with local neighbourhoods and at national level to support neighbourhood development. As a grassroots activist and entrepreneur, Jess has set up community enterprises in publishing, heritage, tourism, childcare, financial management, workspace, and neighbourhood development. At a national level she led innovation through membership organisations.

In Hastings, Jess played a key role in the rescue of Hastings Pier, redeveloped Rock House as a mixed-use, creative, collaborative capped-rent space, and has gone on to develop the award-winning Hastings Commons to tackle the threat of gentrification and enable DIY regeneration.

We're so excited to hear her thoughts next month at Marmalade Festival.
