APPLY FOR SPACE

The Meanwhile in Oxfordshire programme is an Oxfordshire County Council funded programme, with a remit to open 50 new meanwhile (temporary use) spaces across the county over the next year. The programme launched at the beginning of 2021, and has already had lots of interest from local community groups, charities, non-profits, retail businesses and cafes.

Makespace Oxford is committed to supporting organizations that have social, environmental and cultural impact in the local area.

Our mission is to revive, repurpose and transform empty and underused spaces in Oxford, into affordable, community driven workspaces and impact hubs; nurturing connection and support for social enterprises, creatives, makers and doers, committed to positive social change.

We are committed to working with as many organisations as we can, however we will likely have more applicants for space than buildings we can place them in. Therefore, we will be prioritising those who align with our mission. We are also committed to ensuring that the work is spread across the county, and not just focused on the Oxford city centre.

We are working as fast as we can to secure leases and refurbish buildings across Oxfordshire so that we can match spaces to occupiers. We currently don’t have any spaces which are ‘ready to go’ but will be in touch with organisations as and when we feel like there is a building we can match them with.

Please do not hesitate to apply for space with us, especially if your organisation has a particular social, environmental or cultural impact focus. We may be able to support for-profit retail businesses, but would encourage those who apply to think about how they intend to give back and be part of a larger working community.
